What Is Scientific Method ?

Scientific method refers to bodies of techniques for investigating phenomena, acquiring and generating new knowledge, or correcting and synthesizing existing knowledge.

For an investigative endeavor to be termed scientific, the work must be based on a method of inquiry involving the gathering of observable, empirical and measureable data and evidence subject to specific principles of logical reasoning. In essence, a scientific method comprises the process of data collection through observation and experimentation and the formulation and testing of hypotheses. If the experimental outcome does not conform to the hypothesis, one is to rethink and re-examine the prior hypothesis and to construct new one for further experiments and testing.

At Wealth Mastery Academy, we subscribe to the scientific method in developing trading strategies as well as automated trading systems.

Statistical analysis is then performed on the experimental data collected, so as to ascertain the efficacy of the proposed strategy as regards its consistency, efficiency and robustness.

Results of the statistical analysis will shed light on whether the hypothesis first constructed was correct. A correct hypothesis verified by experiments will lead to a viable trading strategy, which can then be further optimized through an iterative refining process with further hypothesis and experiments.
